Art Journal

Two of the most colourful journals that we receive in the library are JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association and Emerging Infectious Diseases. Each issue features a classic painting on the cover and curiously inside, unrelated to the rest of the content, is a page providing an explanation of the work, usually including some biographical information and how the artist came to select that subject.



Although we link to an online edition of these journals, there's nothing like sitting in the library and relaxing with the real thing and being able to enjoy the cover art properly. Here is a list of the journals which we've received into the library today so that you can do just that.

Printing slowly, printing quickly

Some of our visitors may be experiencing problems when they're printing out journals which they've found via Medline or via linking through from the library catalogue. Printing might not be simultaneous and it can take a few minutes before the document appears.

This seems to only happen when you try and print the article, which is in the form of an Adobe .pdf file, directly through your browser which is Internet Explorer 7.

If you are experiencing this problem, it is better to save the document or .pdf file to your network space or USB drive using the save icon which appears in the browser window with the document, opening it using the Adobe Reader which has an icon on the desktop which looks like this:



And printing it from there. The clearest method is to open Adobe Reader and then open the file you want to print using the same method as Microsoft Word and the printing process is very similar too.
